Last week, North by Northeast Music and Film Festival landed in Toronto and I jumped in feet first. I consider NXNE to be the kick off to summer, my favourite season in this city. While I soaked in as much sunshine, live music and company of great friends as I possibly could, I was extremely flattered when MUSI Artist Development asked Cambie to get involved this year. MUSI's founder, the always beautiful Heather Kelly, partnered with Brock McLaughlin and the duo threw an amazing day party: Wasted Away Again. With complimentary margaritas offered upon entry, I decided it would be perfectly suiting to style the venue to feel like a breezy, summer afternoon (including the custom made sign above!). We hung yellow paper lanterns of various sizes and at staggered heights, concentrating over the stage and a few hang out areas. Mason jars were filled with fresh flowers and yellow lily pedals were scattered across table tops. I created an ombré banner across the bar using streamers - super easy and inexpensive! Keeping with the tropical details, we topped it all off with colourful cocktail umbrellas. Live performances throughout the afternoon by Heliopause, KOVAK, Sound of Lions and Jane's Party and DJ sets by DJ KungfuCandy kept the crowd more than pleased! Our balloons were even a hit, as the audience tossed them back and forth as they swooned to Jane's Party.
